A New Norm on Stalking: Is this The New Normal in Lithuania?

ABSTRACT The criminalisation of stalking through a specific law is clear tendency in the EU. At end 2021, new relevant provision Criminal Code Republic Lithuania was introduced (Art. 148-1). It incorporates latest EU legal developments this field. norm determines wide scope eligibility and an inclusive concept to work as umbrella charge that tackles whole tactics stalking. However, has serious shortcomings are related more lenient outcomes for perpetrator, systemic incompatibility, generic nature law, consequences-specific construction. Therefore, it strongly recommended make urgent amendments achieve primary goal criminalising stalking, i.e., better responding victims’ experiences.
